Tanveer Bookwala of Ding Entertainment developed Asur, a 2020 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller web series, for the video on demand platform Voot. Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Sharib Hashmi, and Amey Wagh feature in the series. The story revolves around a modern-day serial murderer with religious links. This series marked Arshad Warsi’s OTT debut.
Asur follows Nikhil Nair, a forensic expert-turned-teacher who returns to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation and, along with his former mentor Dhananjay Rajpoot, finds himself caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a brutal serial killer. What follows is a mix of suspense, mythology, and seemingly unrelated killings.
The notion is entirely novel. This online series was developed by bringing Hindu ancient history up to date. A serial killer’s entire squad has been conducting numerous murders on a regular basis, and despite the best efforts of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, these killings have not been stopped. This is not yet completely disclosed. Season 2 may reveal who is the murderer’s mastermind.
The conclusion of the Asur web series leaves a lot of room for the narrative of the second season. The discovery that the true Shubh is still at large and has a slew of followers means that the war between good and evil will rage on. Furthermore, the death of Lolark Dubey and the advancement of Nushrat imply that new characters may enter the tale in the coming season.
